SLI

The Shipper's Letter of Instruction (SLI) is a critical document in the export process. It provides the freight forwarder with detailed instructions about how to handle the shipment and ensures compliance with export regulations. Filling out an SLI is necessary to:

  • Communicate essential shipment details (e.g., contents, destination, and consignee).

  • Specify export control and licensing information.

  • Ensure accurate preparation of export documents like the Airway Bill or Bill of Lading.

  • Facilitate compliance with U.S. Export Administration Regulations (EAR) or other applicable laws.

POA VEHICLES

A Power of Attorney (POA) is an essential document when exporting vehicles from the USA. It grants the freight forwarder or export agent the legal authority to act on behalf of the vehicle owner during the export process. The importance of a POA lies in the following:

  • Customs Clearance: Allows the agent to prepare and submit necessary documentation to U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP).

  • Title Handling: Empowers the agent to present and manage the vehicle title, a key requirement for export clearance.

  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensures all export procedures are handled in accordance with CBP and export laws.

  • Streamlined Process: Facilitates efficient handling of the export process, minimizing delays and errors.

Without a POA, the vehicle owner would need to be directly involved in every step, which can be time-consuming and impractical.

CARGO INSURANCE WAIVER

Why you may be required to fill out a cargo insurance waiver :

  1. Liability Protection: Freight forwarders have limited liability under international transport laws, so the waiver clarifies that they aren't responsible for damage or loss of uninsured cargo during transit.

  2. Optional Insurance: If you decline their offered cargo insurance, the waiver serves as a formal record that you chose to take the risk without coverage.

  3. Transparency and Documentation: The waiver ensures a clear understanding of responsibilities between you and the freight forwarder, avoiding potential disputes.

  4. Customary Procedure: It's often a standard policy in the industry to ensure clients are aware of the risks and their options for mitigating them.

Credit Application

Applying for terms comes with certain responsibilities to ensure a smooth and mutually beneficial partnership. These include adhering to the agreed payment terms, maintaining clear communication regarding any changes or issues, and ensuring timely and accurate submission of necessary documents.
